9 Awesome Spiritual Awakening Symptoms

Once the soul awakens, the search begins and you can never go back. From then on, you are inflamed with a special longing that will never again let you linger in the lowlands of complacency and partial fulfillment. The eternal makes you urgent. You are loath to let compromise or the threat of danger hold you back from striving toward the summit of fulfillment. ~John O’Donohue

What Does a Spiritual Awakening Mean?

For those of you who aren’t aware of what a spiritual awakening is, it is the process whereby an individual becomes aware of their spiritual nature, as well as the spiritual nature of the entire physical reality.

A person going through a spiritual awakening is coming to the realization that people are so much more than merely their name, occupation, relationship status or belongings; they are eternal spirits connected to each other, to the earth, as well as to the entire Cosmos.

We are all connected; to each other biologically. To the earth chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.” ~Neil deGrasse Tyson

When we experience a spiritual awakening, we literally “wake up” to reality. We begin to question everything including our old beliefs, habits, and ideals, and realize that there is much more to life and to ourselves than what we have been taught up until now.

A spiritual awakening is usually accompanied by a number of amazing symptoms, which I am going to be documenting bellow. Due to the uniqueness of each individual and the subjectivity of each perspective, not everyone going through a spiritual awakening is going to experience the exact same symptoms.

The list bellow is composed based on the symptoms that I have been experiencing throughout my spiritual awakening.

Spiritual Awakening Symptoms

1 – Reduced Stress and Overthinking

When an individual realizes that they are so much more than their physical form, their perspective shifts. As we subdue our ego and the Spirit within becomes in charge we tend to become less emotionally involved with everything that happens; we start taking things less seriously.

Problems and awkward situations that are taking place can be seen more objectively, or as I like to call it “from a third person’s perspective”, and thus become easier to be solved and surpassed.

Everything existing in this physical reality can be finally seen for what it really is; impermanent and insignificant, thus why bother stressing over it?

2 – Feeling That Who You Used to be Was a Different Person

One day you will wake up and you will look back one year and realize that even though who you used to be, feels familiar, it also feels extremely distant and separate.

As I am reminiscing, I realize that I used to feel like a confused, lost kid; a kid who was not just unaware of its confusion, but as far away from the road towards clarity and direction as possible.

Although, just a year later I can’t believe the amount of change that I have been subjected to. I am still feeling confused, but confused about different situations… Situations about which I want to be confused.

External stimuli don’t matter as much as before. People who I used to hang out with seem to naturally distance themselves, and I am keeping my distance as well. Situations that used to bring me joy seem to become increasingly empty and meaningless. I seem to greatly value the time that I spend by myself, and occasionally even feeling that I require it.

Flowever, none of this seems to really matter as long as I keep walking on the path towards knowing myself Finally, a course is set and the path is more apparent than ever.

3 – Increased open-mindedness

Since our younger age, we have been taught to live our life in certain ways; we have been utterly conditioned by literally everyone and everything around us.

As the Spirit within awakens, we become increasingly able to recognize that almost everything that we have been taught about living life is in fact, false and outdated. It almost feels like we are being forced to carry a very heavy burden; a load of dead weight.

Flowever, no matter how scary and inconvenient this realization is, in order to maintain our sanity and our power to keep moving forward, we have no choice but to drop this dead weight and expose ourselves to this new state of being.

The only way that we can Hve. is ff we grow. The oiKy way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn The only way we can learn is if we areexposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourseWes out Into the open. Joyheli C.

Once we start questioning everything that we have ever known, our mind inevitably opens up to a brand new way of being, and it stays open forever. As a result, and in an attempt to expand our horizons, even more, we find ourselves easier stepping outside of our comfort zones, craving for new adventures, enjoying meeting new people, seeing new places, and understanding different cultures.

A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions. ‘^Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr

4 – Experiencing Intense Clarity, Serenity, and Bliss

Clarity, serenity, and bliss are inherent qualities of our Authentic, Spiritual Self They are not qualities that can be cultivated, but rather qualities that come to the surface when our true spiritual nature becomes more obvious and layers of conditioning start peeling off

The more we become aware of the spiritual nature of reality and the more connected we become to our Authentic Self the more clarity, serenity, and bliss we are going to be experiencing.

5 – Spontaneous Bursts of Creativity

As consciousness ascends to higher dimensions and mind becomes more subtle, obsolete thought patterns start to lessen or even vanish. We grow more able to think out of the box and to see the bigger picture of everything.

Occasionally, we might experience unintended bursts of creativity which might help us make enormous leaps towards solving problems that we are currently facing, finding answers to previously complex and unanswered questions, and/or finally understanding who we truly are, why are we here, and maybe even what our life’s purpose is.

6 – Emotional Stability

Feeling like being on an emotional roller coaster, experiencing intense mood swings, sudden waves of emotions, emotional confusion, hopelessness, loneliness, and disconnection are some of the signs that you are spiritually awakening, according to most people, websites, and books.

While this may actually be the case, those emotions are just like waves on the surface of an extremely deep ocean. There might be a storm above the ocean, manifesting huge waves, but the deeper you dive into it, the more serene, silent, and stable it seems.

As the Spirit within awakes and we dive deeper into our true essence, we realize that no matter what kind of emotion causes turbulence on the surface, this deep ocean-like peace is always going to be there with us.

7 – Experiencing Oneness

Experiencing Oneness is most probably one of the most amazing and unique manifestations of a spiritual awakening.

Flowever, while I will be taking about oneness, I will not be taking about the realization of the infinite connection between everything and the Universe Itself Rather, I will be talking about the realization of the oneness of opposites, or as the alchemists and hermeticists call it in The Kybalion – the Principle of Polarity.

“Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled. ~The Principle of Polarity. The Kybalion”

Victory exists inside every defeat. Sadness is the foundation of happiness. Anxiety gives birth to serenity. Courage is derived from fear. Failure is part of success. As the problem rises, so is the solution.

The silence from which each note emerges is more important than the note itself. It’s the empty space between the notes that literally allows the music to be music. If there’s no void, there’s only continuous sound. -^Change Your

Thoughts • Change Your Life, by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Realizing this, the awakened man searches for the positive inside every negative, and thus he is constantly in control. Fie always remains centered, even in the midst of chaos; he is not swayed, despite being surrounded by opulence; he is in touch with his root.

8 – Moving Through Life With More Ease

During a spiritual awakening, we are coming to the understanding that what we experience in life is a direct utilization of our belief system, thoughts, and mental states. Whatever we hold in our mind tends to unfold in our life.

This realization renders us able to stand guard on the door of our mind and become aware of already adopted bad habits while dropping whatever we believe to be holding us back from being the best version of ourselves.

Subsequently, we begin manifesting our desires faster and much more effortlessly; everything seems to be falling into place. Problems seem to be solving by themselves.

Life feels more like a game.

9 – Craving For Our True Purpose

While being in a state of ignorance of our Spiritual nature, we tend to keep seeking ways to gratify our senses. We believe that this is the sole way towards real and lasting happiness, thus we are constantly setting materialistic goals. We “have” to attain stuff; we “have” to meet more people; we “have” to fall in love; we “have” to have money.
